Call Me A Renegade
came into my life on August 31, 2006.
Jim Sancken told me that he had too many stallions
and wanted to sell him. We really didn’t need a
stallion but I had seen the horse and really liked
him. I loved his sire, River City Renegade when
Dudley Pillow and I visited Steward Quarter Horses
years ago. I thought he had as much muscle as one
could put on a horse and he had such a tremendous
hip besides. It didn’t hurt that he was a 2 time
World Champion either. At the time when I bought
Renegade (or Larry as we call him) I didn’t know
anything about his dam. I later found out that she
stands 16.2 and is sired by Wildest who is a world
champion palomino. I have a picture of her and as
you will see from it, she is the “right kind” of
mare to be the dam of a stallion prospect.
At the time that I
bought Larry, he was leading the state of Wisconsin
in halter and was qualified for the World in Amateur
with 10 shows and 10 wins. He also had 6.5 open
halter points with 13 wins, 4 Grands and 6
Reserves. As all of you know, showing is not my
thing, so Larry’s show career ended with these
accomplishments.
Garrel Chiasson called
me one day and asked me what kind of money it would
take to buy Call Me a Renegade. Garrell is
building a new horse facility in Magnolia,
Mississippi and was looking for a good NN stallion
to compliment it. We came to an agreement on price
and he decided to leave Larry here in Wisconsin, at
least for the 2007 breeding season while Garrell
completes his facility. I normally don’t like to
stand stallions but this horse has such a wonderful
disposition, I don’t mind having him around. I also
don’t think that I have told you that we have
expanded our lab and Dr Fox is planning to run her
breeding operation out of our facility. It will be
a full service facility and will include embryo
transfer, semen freezing, shipping both cooled and
frozen semen and stallion collecting. What better
place for a stallion like Larry to stand.
In my opinion Call Me A
Renegade offers a lot to the halter industry. He is
very correct and solid in his legs. He has the
gorgeous top line and great hocks that we are all
looking for and he has a pretty head and a long
neck. Besides all that, he has the width, muscle,
and big hind leg that a lot of the NN stallions
don’t have. I think that keeping muscle on our
horses is so important to our industry. His
introductory stud fee will be $1000.00 and he is in
the Incentive Fund. Please contact me for any
information that you may have about him. |
