One evening in 2003 I received a phone call from my
friend Donna Davis telling me that she was going to sell
some of her mares. I remembered Phenomenal when I had been
at the Davis in Alabama and knew that if I ever got the chance,
I was going to own her. I couldn't let that mare get away
so I told Donna that I would buy her. I had a little
problem for a bit as I failed to tell Mike that I agreed
to purchase her. When Donna bought her she was told
the mare was NN and I thought she was when I bought her from
Donna. I wanted to have the HYPP results added to her
registration papers and was in total shock when the test results
came back NH. I decided with the quality of the mare I had
still made a good decision. Phenomenal has halter points and was
qualified for the World. I love her for a broodmare.
I had always admired her sire, The Phenomenal and she certainly
has the size, huge hip and pretty head that he had. That along
with her huge heart girth, great hocks and gorgeous head
makes her a great addition to our program. She
is a relatively young mare but from what I see of her foals. she
has a permanent home at Ellis Quarter Horses.
