One year at the World Sale with my good friends Carri
Jones and Lanis Noble, I
saw a mare that I really liked.
Her name was That Perfect Clu and she was by Kid Clu.
Rodger Shabel bought her and I remember thinking how I
wished I would have been able to buy her.
A few years past when I found out Rodger was selling some
mares. I immediately contacted Lanis
and told him that the mare that I had “lusted after” was going
to be available and asked him if he wanted to go in with me and
buy her. He agreed and I called Rodger and told him that I
didn’t have a lot of money to pay for a mare. He told me he
would give me what he called the “Dudley Pillow” deal.
Both Rodger and I were good friends with
Dudley
, and Rodger is as
nice a person as you will ever find in the horse business.
Well, we bought the mare and she is everything we hoped
for. Over 16 hands in
height and she has the longest neck and prettiest hocks and
topline you will ever see on a mare.
Our intention is to breed her to our young stallion, A
Legacy and I predict the resulting foals will be outstanding.
