I believe that a stallion prospect should have good parentage and not be a "freak of nature" who will not be able to produce good horses. I owned both the dam and the grand dam of this colt. His grand dam, Shanes Lady Romantic was sired by Skips Shane who was by Ima Cool Skip and she was out of How D Romantic who was a full sister to How D Poco Lynn, the dam of Obvious Prophet.

I love the How D Roman mares and How D Romantic was one of his good ones. I bred Romantic to JMK Malibu Ken who was by Mr Yella Fella and out of Shanes Barbie Doll, who was a daughter of Skips Shane out of a really good daughter of Sonny Dee Bar. Malibukini (Juliet as we call her) is a 16.3 gray mare who has a gorgeous head and a really pretty profile.

Sterling is her second foal, the first being Xceptionally, a gorgeous double registered APHA, AQHA filly now owned by Dani and John Mullaney.

Sterling's sire is I Gotta Cool Secret who is one of the top halter producing stallions in the US. Both Sterling's sire and dam are noted for their gorgeous heads and great bodies. Sterling has been nominated to the Breeders Halter Futurity so he will be eligible to show in the future. I envision him as a big, elegant, correct halter stallion who should be able to pass his genetics on to his foals. If I were still young, I would definitely keep him as a stallion but having Classically (Fred) is all I need at this stage of my life. Sterling is the perfect horse for anyone who wants a good show horse and/or a potential herd sire.
